While walking through the amazingness that is the Wegmas grocery store looking for something to clean my wood furniture I found an interesting looking mop. I feel like I am always in search of a decent mop especially since I have hardwood floors in my apartment. I cringe using swiffer products because of their disposibility and spongy mops constantly fall apart and using water on the wood floor it just seems as if I’m spreading the dirt around. So when I noticed that this method O mop had a washable microfiber pad and the cleaning solutions were biodegradable I jumped at the chance to try it.
The wood floor cleaning package comes with four pieces, the three beams that make up the mop itself which simply snap together, a bottle of floor cleaner, the microfiber pad and a small package of sweeping pads. The sweeping pads are a bit hard for me to use because with my two dogs there is usually too much dog hair for the pad to handle. But when I do use them it is nice because I can just wash them and use them again and when they are finally worn out they are compostable. Of course I live in an apartment in the city so I don’t have a compost pile, although having the option is nice. The microfiber pad is a thicker piece of material that attaches to velco that is on the bottom of the actual mop itself. It is also washable when dirty but this is the part where I think the people at Method made a design mistake. After mopping a handful of times the microfiber pad starts loosing its initial form that matches up perfectly with the bottom of the mop. Therefore, when you are pushing it along some of the rubber on the bottom of the mop hits the floor and flips the mop on it’s side. An easy solution to this would be adding extra material to each side of the pad that would tuck into the finger pinches on the top of the mop as the sweeping pads do and therefore not exposing any of the plastic. Despite the occasional flip mopping with the omop is quite easy. The mop is curved which makes it ergonomic and one turn allows you to reach underneath most furniture. As for the floor cleaner all you need to do it put a small squirt along the area you are cleaning and then a couple of swipes with the mop and you have shiny non-residue floors. Finally, the floor solutions come in great scents, lemon ginger for your tile floors and almond for the wood. The scent is quite faint which lets you enjoy the cleaning experience without being knocked over by anything too overpowering like most cleaning products.
Not only does this mop satisfy the OCD part of me but I love it because of its smart, clean design of both the mop itself and its advertising. Within the packaging comes a small booklet; the guide to healthy, tasty floors, which is full of recipes and fun ways to eat directly from your floors. So all in all I am overjoyed that I discovered this mop and hope to have it around for a long time.

I think we all have a little neat freakiness! I’d love to find something like this in the UK.
